Cristiano Ronaldo is the greatest player in the world today. But the man regarded worldwide as the greatest footballer of all times has seemingly settled the score with a single comment.

Edson Arantes do Nascimento better-known as Pele said that Lionel Messi of Barcelona is the greatest player of the decade.

Speaking to the press while on a trip to India, the 74-year-old legend said while Ronaldo of Real Madrid comes close, Messi's unique style of playing football gives him the edge as the most talented player in the last 10 years.

"It's very difficult to make a comparison of players of different generations. But in last 10 years Messi was the best. Ronaldo plays forward and tries to score, while Messi plays with a different style. In my team I would love to have both," said the retired Brazilian player.

He also commended his fellow countryman Neymar, 23, who he said "also has good future."

Lionel Messi, 28 who is out on knee injury was named the best player in Europe in August while Christiano Ronaldo, 30, recently scored the 501st goal of his career.

The statement made by Pele means a lot to football fanatics as Pele is the only footballer to have won three FIFA World Cup titles to date.

Pele who has scored 1281 goals in 1363 games is also listed in the Guinness Book Of World Records for the most career goals in football.
