Man imprisoned for stealing tablet

A St Catherine man who stole a Samsung tablet after he was asked to download data on it was sentenced to 30 days hard labour in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court recently.

Ian Williams, 28, from Cedar Avenue in Hellshire, was sentenced when he pleaded guilty to simple larceny before Resident Magistrate (RM)Natalee Brooks. The RM told the accused that she considered that he has been in custody for three months.

It is said that in August this year, Williams, who was a friend of the family, was asked to download data on the tablet. He reportedly stole the tablet valued $41,000 and left.

A report was made to the Hellshire Police Station in St Catherine, and an investigation was launched. he was held along the Hellshire Beach. He told the police that he borrowed the item and someone stole it from him.

Williams was charged by Constable Ori Roberts.
