Alarming number of persons killed on the roads
As the Christmas season approaches, Kenute Hare, director of the Road Safety Unit, has called on Jamaicans to exercise greater care on the roads.
“We are appealing to drivers to cut their speed, never overtake on a bend or at a junction; never drive in a manner that will prove offensive to other road users," Hare said.

This appeal comes in light of the alarming number of persons killed on the roads since January.
Statistics from the Road Safety Unit show that 354 have died on the nation's roads as at December 12.
Statistics from the Unit also highlight that males continue to lead in the fatality table with 292 who perished being males and 62 females.
