St Catherine man convicted of senior citizen's murder

Clifton Harrison has been found guilty of the 2009 murder of a senior citizen in St Catherine.

Harrison was today convicted in the St Catherine Circuit Court today for  Louise Barnes' murder.

The Crown led evidence that in September 2009, the accused allegedly killed, partially burnt and buried the body of the senior citizen.

Barnes partially decomposing body was found wrapped in cloth in a shallow grave on the Thetford Farms in Church Pen district, St Catherine.

Harrison, 42, who is being represented by attorney-at-law Peter Champagnie, has maintain his innocence throughout the trial.

He testified from the dock that he last saw the deceased on September 25, 2009, when he placed her on a bus.

The trial lasted four weeks or saw the Crown calling 13 witnesses to the stand.

The seven-member-jury retired for over an hour and returned a unanimous guilty verdict of murder..

Presiding Judge Justice David Fraser has ordered that Harrison be remanded until January 13, 2017 when he is expected to be sentenced.
