Cocaine seized, woman in custody

Detectives assigned to the Narcotics Division seized 1.4 kilograms of cocaine at the Sangster International Airport in Montego Bay, St James earlier today.

Reports are that at about 2:30 p.m., a female Jamaican/Canadian resident was at the security checkpoint, where she was scheduled to board a Sunwing flight destined to Toronto, Canada.

Further checks of her person were made and the illicit drug was found wrapped in a cylindrical parcel in a green and black sock hidden in  underwear concealed in her groin area.

She was subsequently taken into custody, however her identity is being withheld pending further investigations.

The drug has an estimated street value of J$455, 700.
