Man accused of stealing 30 goats walks free
A St Catherine man who was accused of stealing 30 goats was freed in the St Catherine Parish Court on Wednesday.
Paul Forbes, a labourer of Old Harbour, St Catherine, had the case against him dismissed after the complainant in the matter failed to appear.
Attorney-at-law Fitzroy Melbourne told the court that it was the fourth occasion that the complainant is absent and that the case against his client should be dismissed.
Parish Judge Grace Henry-McKenzie upheld the lawyer's submission and ordered that Forbes should be freed for want of prosecution.
Allegations before the court are that in April 2016, the complainant reportedly caught Forbes and two other men stealing the ruminants from his farm near Church Pen. He sounded an alarm and Forbes and the other men reportedly drove off with the animals.
A report was made to the Old Harbour police and following an investigation Forbes was charged.
