Trench Town home to benefit from VIP ticket sales at Redemption Live
The Eira Schader Home for the Aged in Trench Town, St Andrew, will be the beneficiary of funds collected from the sale of VIP tickets at this year's staging of Redemption Live.
The concert, which is free to the public, is being held in honour of reggae icon Bob Marley.
Patrons can claim their free tickets for the event at select Digicel stores in Kingston, St. Catherine, Manchester, Clarendon and St. Ann.
VIP tickets will also be on sale for $4,000 each.

The Eira Schader Home for the Aged was established by Swiss Eira Schader in 1986. It provides care for senior citizens in the Trench Town, a community synonymous with reggae music and its greatest exponent, Bob Marley.
"In keeping with our celebration of Bob Marley's life and work, we wanted to lend a hand in supporting an institution that meant a lot to him. We understand that it was always his dream to take care of the elders in his community and the Eira Schader Home for the Aged does just that in Trench Town, so it is certainly a worthy cause for us to support," Kamal Powell, Senior Sponsorship and Development Manager at Digicel Jamaica, told THE STAR.

The Bob Marley Foundation supports the home by contributing to the salaries for the caregivers and other staff. Powell said the home has other needs which Digicel will be looking to address with the proceeds from the VIP ticket sales for Redemption Live.
"We are encouraging all our partners and customers to buy a ticket and help us give the Eira Schader Home the help they need," he said.
Redemption Live will be held in Half-Way Tree on Sunday, February 5, 2017.

The event is presented through a partnership involving Digicel and Red Stripe with sponsors REVOLT TV, Pepsi, Rainforest Seafoods, Main Event and the Bob Marley Group of Companies.
The line-up boasts several top local and international acts, including Ky-Mani Marley, Beenie Man, Richie Spice, Capleton, Ikaya, Kabaka Pyramid, Garnet Silk Jr., Jah9 and Grammy-nominated Dancehall act, Devin di Dakta.
“Redemption Live is a perfect example of how we will unite the Jamaican people through music," Powell said.
"The theme, vibe and melody cater to people from all segments of society, and so we look forward to seeing as many of them out in the big square living up to the vision of unity that Bob Marley always envisioned,” he added
