JPS nominated for international award
The Jamaica Public Service Company (JPS) has been shortlisted for the International Edison Award, which recognises, honours and fosters innovation and innovators creating a positive impact in the world.
The light and power company has been nominated for its 2016 execution of the plan to convert the Bogue power plant from diesel fuel to liquefied natural gas. The introduction of gas represents a historic milestone for Jamaica, as the nation pursues energy diversification and the expansion of its energy sector.
The other finalists for the International Edison Award, are Ontario Power Generation in Canada and Tohoku Electric Power in Japan.
The winner of the International Edison Electric Award will be announced in June at the EEI Annual Convention in Boston, USA.
