Soldier on drugs charge denied bail
JDF soldier Sedona Maxwell was denied bail when he appeared in the Kingston and St Andrew parish court a short while ago.
Maxwell is charged under the breaches of dangerous drug act after he was allegedly held with cocaine at the Norman Manley International Airport (NMIA) on June 18.
The 32-year-old lance corporal is represented by Valerie Neita Robertson QC.
Allegations are the accused arrived at the NMIA at 4:30 p.m. and checked in on an outgoing Air Canada flight to Toronto.
At 4:45 p.m. security checks unearthed a powdery substance thought to be cocaine in three souvenir cups.
Further allegations are that during other checks, more of the substance was found in a concealed compartment.
He is to return to court on July 12.
