Watch out for unsafe sheep meat

March 16, 2018

The Praedial Larceny Prevention Unit of the Ministry of Industry Commerce, Agriculture and Fisheries is warning the public, and especially residents of Clarendon, to only purchase meat from reputable sources.

This warning comes after reports to the unit from the Four Paths Police Station in Clarendon that seven sheep were stolen from the Ebony Park Heart Academy in that parish between 5 p.m. on Thursday, and 6 a.m. Friday.

The farm supervisor at the academy reported that the fencing to the property was destroyed by thieves who stole the sheep.

The animals were medicated a few hours before they were stolen and as such the meat is unfit for human consumption. It is reported that the sheep were valued at approximately J$280,000.
