Versatile shoots video for Fly
Dancehall artiste Versatile has claimed 2015 by carving out his own niche.
The artiste is in the US promoting his nine-track Made It EP, produced by his own Damani Records.
He has been making appearances at various radio stations and used the opportunity to shoot the video for the number one song on his EP, Fly.
The video was shot in Rhode Island and New York City by director Julius Yaadkore.
According to the entertainer, the song speaks volumes to his motivations and aspirations and to those who, with self-doubt, negativity and overall 'badmind' nature, wishes his downfall.
Instead, he rises above all the harsh criticisms and negativity and has elevated himself, because now he's able to Fly.
The concept of the video brings the lyrics of song to life, showing his gradual progress over the years.
"This song is very dear to me because it is a true story. They didn't want me to get a bicycle, not even a bike, but now I am flying," shared Versatile. "The video shows a younger me, riding my bicycle and some malicious person stole it, but then I was able to step up in life. This song is a motivation to me and to everyone who listens; take it from me, you can rise above it all, I did."
Thanks to multiple play on mainstream radio, Fly has given Versatile a bona fide hit.
The artiste is very content with the direction in which his career is going and looks forward to many more things to come.
Versatile will return to the island at the end of the month, where he will continue to supply the demand for wholesome, lyrical dancehall music.
