Iconic hit-making producer-artiste Teetimus is promoting a new single featuring dancehall artiste Vybz Kartel.

Teetimus, who is based in the United States, says the song My Girl is poised to become his breakout dancehall hit.

Like a number of dancehall producers releasing records featuring Vybz Kartel, Teeitmus says he recorded the song several years ago.

"It's a song mi did have long time and I never used it. I made Gutty Bling of Claims Records in Jamaica listen to it, and him seh, 'Yow, a Kartel dat enuh. Don't sleep on it'. I made a rhythm around the song and it was a movie from there. I have been getting good feedback in Miami, New York and in Jamaica, and we are looking to film a video soon," he told The STAR.

Some fans of the producer might see his decision to release songs of his own as a new page in his career.

However, Teetimus says he has always dabbled with songwriting, especially for other recording artistes.

"Many people respect me as an artiste already because I have written melodies for artistes, so it was only a matter of time. Some fans are just catching on, but that is part of the journey. I will be doing a more crossover style of dancehall because I want to put dancehall even bigger on the international stage. In these times in music, you have to do other things to get more leverage. You can't just stick to production," he said.

My Girl was produced by Teetimus, Claims Records, and Mek Nyz Records and can be purchased on iTunes and viewed on YouTube. Teetimus has produced records such as Affairs of The Heart, by Damian Marley; Mystery, by Bounty Killer; Heels On, by Lady Saw; Bruck It Down, by Mr Vegas, among others.
