Billboard-charting producer Cordel 'Skatta' Burrell is still basking in the success of his 'Coolie Dance' rhythm which was released more than a decade ago, as the rhythm was recently featured in Will Smith's latest movie 'Concussion'.

The song that was featured in the movie is Nina Sky's Mova Ya Body that was released on the rhythm 12 years ago.

According to Cordel 'Skatta' Burrell, he is grateful for the success. However, he says he is no longer surprised when he gets calls regarding the 'Coolie Dance' rhythm.

"This is not the first time that the song has been featured on that scale. This has happened before. That rhythm has been sampled so many times that I am no longer shocked when I see it doing good overseas. It being featured in the movie will definitely show good results in the royalty payments," he told THE STAR.

level of success

Skatta says he is now looking forward to duplicating that level of success with his new projects.

"That is something that we always aspire to achieve and that is where I am looking with the new music that I am working on," he said.

Move Ya Body was released in 2004 and featured popular Hot 97 disc jock and Best of The Best organiser, Jabba. The song rose to number four on the Billboard Hot 100 and was also ranked at 250 on Blender's 500 Greatest Songs Since You Were Born list.

The song was also certified Gold by The Recording Industry Association of America in 2005. The 'Coolie Dance' rhythm also had chart success with Elephant Man's Jook Gal that peaked at number 57 on the Billboard hot 100 in 2005.

Concussion grossed $34.5 million in North America and $12.7 million in other territories for a worldwide total of $47.3 million after the movie was released in late December.
