Ele returns to Billboard with new single
Dancehall artiste Elephant Man is already celebrating mainstream success. This as his collaboration 'Hip Sings' with songwriter-producer DJ Sultan has peaked at number 10 on the Billboard Singles Chart.
The energetic deejay, who has been creating a buzz in the US since being reissued a work permit, told THE WEEKEND STAR that he is grateful. "I feel really great representing for dancehall music. It is a great achievement and we give God the glory. We never stop working, we are always working. God is good, " Elephant Man said.
The record sees DJ Sultan fusing different sounds from reggae, dancehall and EDM to create what he calls world music. DJ Sultan and Elephant Man have also created a remix, hoping the effort will expand the reach of the project similarly to OMI's Cheerleader, which benefited from its remix version.
"We did an original version of the song, but the fans liked it so much, we had to do a remix. Now the remix has just taken a life of its own," Elephant Man said.
Hip Sings is available on all major digital stores. The accompanying music video is underway and will be released in coming weeks.
Elephant Man recently released visuals for another single, titled Genna, which pays homage to icons in the music industry. Genna was produced by Elephant Man and Dona from Ward 21.
Known as the Energy God, Elephant Man, who was once signed with New York-based label Bad Boy Records, is world renowned for his songs and dances and has collaborated with some of the biggest names in music as well as received international recognition when Puma used his single All Out for its 2004 Olympics commercial campaign.
