Mainly outfitted in fancy swimsuits, sheer coveralls, stylish sandals, and cut-off shorts, patrons of SPF Forever Beach Party were not prepared for a thunderstorm.

Promoter's original intent of a fire-infused event was thwarted by a surprise downpour. Music halted for close to an hour, with tarpaulin pulled for the protection of the deejays' equipment.

At about 1:30 a.m., partygoers were chased to tents by a sudden strong gust of wind, which swept across the beach in continuous swoops, kicking up sand then sea, and bringing torrents of rain.

Patrons were patient with the storm. Many took advantage of breaks in the flurries to steal away to the bar and food station (which offered a varied menu of roasted yam and breadfruit, curried goat, jerk chicken and pork and barbeque ribs).

By 2:15 a.m., the downpour eased into a drizzle. Emboldened (or well-imbibed) patrons emerged out from their shelters into the easing rain, much less concerned with the state of their fancy wear, and as though making up for lost time.

Music, provided by DJ Heavy D of Chromatic and DJ Lank from Code Red, continued for an hour beyond the scheduled end of 4 a.m.
