Jonathan Burkett's 'One Life' surpass a million views on Vevo
Multitalented US-born reggae artiste and rapper Jonathan Burkett's latest single, One Life has racked up over one million views on YouTube since its November 2016 release, raising eyebrows both locally and internationally.
The soothing track, centred on empowerment, according to Burkett's handlers, is also doing well on Spotify.
Burkett, also known as John Blake, has taken on the daunting task of launching his brand as an independent artiste and appears to be doing so successfully.
He told THE WEEKEND STAR, "I had to do a song to motivate and encourage persons to be strong and have faith. There is so much in life we should be grateful for and give thanks."
One Life features Ambelique, and as the song title suggests, speaks to everyday scenarios which people face.
Burkett said he finds that many Jamaicans think "life a foreign a bed a rose", however, entertainers look at things differently, citing that life comes with its fair share of challenges and people can rise through struggles.
He said his talent and experience extend far beyond music and into the fields of writer, poet, and lyricist.
Burkett also told THE WEEKEND STAR that he is a published author who has received rave reviews from critics abroad.
His book, Neglected but Undefeated: The Life of A Boy Who Never Knew A Mother's Love, is an autobiography about his painful childhood and his journey to find love and acceptance.
According to Burkett, his focus is to spread One Life to the world and build on the momentum.
The song is available on all digital outlets.
Burkett is also known for the singles Changes, Crush On You and Don't Give Up.
