Frass Hill recruits DJ Kenny for mixtape
Recording artiste Frass Hill, has collaborated with iconic mixtape producer DJ Kenny for his debut 16 track mixtape called ‘Grimy Life’.
Frass, who is also the brother of Vybz Kartel’s common law wife Shorty, says he is looking to do numbers on social media.
“Social media is the new wave and I see where my brother in law, Vybz Kartel, used social media to promote his brand into an international product and so I am taking notes from his work. I have this mixtape which is mixed by one of the greatest DJs in Jamaica and so I know that fans will love it. We have been in the studio putting in the work and this is just to show fans that my catalogue can rival any artiste out there,” he said.
The artiste, who has penned songs for other artistes, believes DJ Kenny’s endorsement will give the mixtape more leverage commercially.
"He is the biggest mixtape DJ in Jamaica and so I am looking for a positive response in the hardcore dancehall market. Music does not stop in Jamaica, so I am working overtime to appeal to other markets. I was recently issued my Canada visa and so I'm looking to share my work with that side of the world as well,” Frass Hill said.
The mixtape will be featured in Soundcloud and YouTube.com. It will also be available for purchase on CDs.
"I will keep releasing mixtapes, because it's a good way to promote your brand and also to kinda build your catalogue. My mixtape is supposed to be respected like any album," he said.
The fast rising deejay is set to make his first trip to Canada in coming weeks. The mixtape features Tommy Lee Sparta, Sassipearila and Shauna Chin. The project is being released under Sophia B Records and organised by MC Nuffy.
