Raverz Movement throws back-to-school treat
Raverz Movement Foundation assists over 200 children in St Thomas.
Sound System operator, Lando Raverz, came from humble beginnings, and as such, has gone above and beyond to ensure that the less fortunate children in four communities in Prospect, St Thomas, will have some of the basic items to go back to school in September.
The back-to-school treat was held recently, at the Prospect playing field.
Lando Raverz, through his Raverz Movement Foundation, partnered with sponsors, to ease some of the burdens associated with back-to-school.
One child was so overwhelmed by his gesture, she came over and hugged Lando Raverz, as he assisted his colleague with aspects of the treat. The children were given school supplies, bags, and shoes, while they enjoyed bounce-a-bouts, popcorn and snow cone.
According to Lando Raverz, "Growing up in and around my community, the kids that were less fortunate, were not able to attend school as was expected because of not having the basic items that were required for school, for example books, bag, shoes."
He said, "It has always been a desire of mine to give a helping hand. As the CEO and selector of the Raverz Movements Team, I formed the foundation (The Raverz Movement Foundation) that allows me to give back along with the little I earn from my profession.
He says sincere gratitude goes out to the sponsors that came on board: Classic Supershop, Lebeau Monde Day Spa, Mr Singh from D&S, Fierce by Dre, Ming Shoes, Herby Morris, F.A. Williams, Destiny's Fashion and Cellular, Supercare Pharmacy and Right Choice Pharmacy, Digicel, One to One Distributors, Essential Discount Mart, Sparkle Make Up Artistry, Ann-Marie Mathison, Global Distributors, Oral Sewell, Dizzle La Fam Ja and Universal Electrical and Plumbing, George Hall, Dainty Boutique.
"To all the sponsorship, it's highly appreciated. To the rest of the Raverz Movement Foundation team members, who volunteered to have things in order... a big thank you."
Lando Raverz says he hopes to have an even bigger treat " to give back even more to the kids next year."
