Curvy Diva to shoot first music video
Popular media-personality-turned-artiste Yanique 'Curvy Diva' Barrett is gearing up to shoot the music video for her debut hit single, 'Lifestyle'.
The song, which was released earlier this year, has been doing relatively well on the local music scene, and has caused some amount of controversy since its release.
When it was first released, many believed the song was aimed at the 'Fluffy Diva' Miss Kitty, and labelled it a 'diss track'. That assumption was quickly put to rest by the entertainer, but the hype surrounding the song continued.
Having recently received another spurt of attention after the song was played at a funeral procession to create excitement among mourners, the entertainer decided it was time to add some visuals to a song that has been on the lips of many for the past few months.
"We weren't trying to delay it (the video) in case of any hiccups or anything like that. We were just waiting on the right time, and now is the right time," she said in a recent interview.
"When I spoke to my team at Good Good Productions, we all agreed that we wanted the song to climax, and now that it has, we will be doing the video and it will be shot very very soon."
CHANCE FOR CAMEO
For persons who want to be part of the music video, the entertainer is having a competition to give one lucky fan the chance to make a cameo appearance in the video. Interested persons are being asked to post a video on Instagram, showing their own lifestyle with the hashtag #yaniquecurvydiva. Entrants should make sure the song is being played in the background. The videos will be reposted by the entertainer on her page, and the person with the most likes will win. The deadline for the submission of videos is Sunday, August 27. Persons must be 18 years or older to be eligible for the appearance.
When asked why the Curvy Diva decided to go the route of including fans in the video, her publicist, Janice Young, said that based on how involved the fans have been in her career, it was only fitting that they be given the chance to be part of her first music video.
"Her fans play a role in her career from the start, so involving them in the first video just seemed like the right thing to do. Also, fans connect with the song in a crazy way so they deserve to have their lifestyle highlighted on this platform," she said.
Young did not reveal too much about the concept that the Curvy Diva would be running with for her first video, but she said the finished product would be epic. The music video is expected to be released before the end of the year.
