Cricket fans attending the Hero Caribbean Premier League (CPL) matches at Sabina Park this weekend into next week are in for a treat as the entertainment package set for each night are expected to be nothing short of excitement.

Veteran dancehall artiste Bounty Killer, Tifa, Kevin Downswell and dancer turned artiste Ding Dong have been booked for the four nights of matches and will be hoping to set the El Dorado Rum Party Stand ablaze with their high energy sets.

As has become customary at CPL matches, the party stand is expected to be an all inclusive area of non-stop fun and entertainment. According to Shanz, a member of the CPL marketing team, it was only a matter of who would be tasked with bringing the energy as the entertainment package that patrons have become used to was never going to be left off the agenda this year.

“As you know, Cricket is more of a gentleman’s sport but with CPL, we have remixed that formula and we have brought the culture of the Caribbean and infused it with the sport. Yes, we love Cricket but as Caribbean people we also love to party and have a good time so mixing, reggae, soca and dancehall into the event was our way of achieving that,” she said. “We kicked things off with Bounty Killer (last night), then we will have Tifa (tonight), then we head into some ‘holy behaviour’ with Kevin Downswell on Wednesday and then we close things off with Ding Dong and his crew on Friday. We’re gonna have fire breathers, drummers, stilt walkers, it’s going to be exciting. Our goal is to bring that Caribbean party vibe.”

The CPL will make Sabina Park its home as the Tallawahs take on the St Lucia Stars, Trinbago Knight Riders (Saturday), St Kitts and Nevis Patriots (Sunday) and the Guyana Amazon Warriors on Tuesday.
