Etana amused by couple 'bruking out' to her music
Reggae artiste Etana has responded to a video of a couple 'bruking out' to her performance at a recent live show.
The video, which began circulating on social media over the weekend, shows a couple grinding provocatively on each other while the singer is onstage.
The singer told THE WEEKEND STAR that although she did not see the couple during her stint onstage, she was shown a video of them and was shocked as she didn't know her music could have evoked that kind of response.
"I was so focused on the people in front of me and to my immediate right or left that I didn't see what was taking place. I was told that even to Redemption Song they were carrying on," she said, laughing. "I was shocked and I was surprised that I didn't see it while it was happening. I think they were eventually removed from direct sight by security as there were some persons in the audience who were a little uncomfortable by how they were dancing."
Etana said she has labelled it as a one-off situation. She further expressed that she was not casting judgement on the couple as she believes they were feeling the music in their own way.
"I'm not used to seeing that at all, but I think they were enjoying themselves in their own way," she said. "It's not something that's typical of an Etana show, so that's one of the reasons the video has attracted so much attention. But like me, those who have seen it found it amusing, so it's no big deal. I'm the last to judge anyone, so I kinda just laughed it off."
The Strong One, as she is popularly called, will wrap up her most recent tour in the United States this weekend before focusing her attention on Japan come October.
She is currently promoting her new single My Man, the music video for which was released a few days ago and features popular dancers Marvin the Beast and Nickeisha.
