Pliers releases first single in 18 months
Iconic dancehall artiste Pliers is gearing up for the release of a new single, In It to Win It, his first single in more than 18 months.
"It is a motivational song to uplift all listeners and encourage them to work hard and never give up on whatever they put their minds to. Never give in. They should be in it to win," Pliers said.
The executive producers of the song are Stephen 'Lenky' Marsden and Pliers. The rhythm was produced by Lenky, while the song will be distributed by Zojak Worldwide when it hits stores on September 22.
"The feedback on streets and from the disc jockeys so far has been incredible, and the song will be added to playlists all over the world because the song has a new international dancehall feel thanks to Lenky," Pliers said.
He is still reaping success with his collaborative single, Murder She Wrote that was done with Chaka Demus, as the sample requests for the double Platinum-selling single continue to mount from artistes all over the world.
Pliers believes that the single, which was produced by the legendary Sly and Robbie of Taxi Gang, is one of the "greatest dancehall singles of all time".
"Right now, there are several recent requested samples including Tight Nooki by Jeremih and Steflon Don, Tune In by Massari featuring Beenie Man and Afrojack, Maxi Dress by Not3s. Plus two international TV shows have requested the sample. This proves that Murder She Wrote continues to have massive international appeal," Pliers said.
The song has been sampled by American-Spanish rapper Pitbull, who collaborated with Cuban reggaeton singer Osmani Garcia for an effort called El Taxi. El Taxi currently has more than 45 million views on YouTube since its release three years ago. Other successful samples include French Montana's Freaks featuring Nicki Minaj, and Omarion's Post to Be featuring Chris Brown and Jhene Aiko.
