Aidonia working on first album
Dancehall artiste Aidonia has been enjoying one of the most successful summers of his career, and there is more to come as the entertainer is currently in the studio working on his first album.
Project Sweat, a 10-track compilation which was released two years ago, was seen by many as an album. However, according to a press release sent to THE WEEKEND STAR, it was just an EP.
Hence, this current project will be the deejay's first official album since making his way on to the music scene over a decade ago.
Aidonia revealed that he took his time in coming out with an album as he wanted to "deviate from the norm, but still provide an offering that fans and the wider populace will appreciate musically".
"I want to provide fans with something exceptional that will transcend time and geographic boundaries. I am not a big fan of expendable music, hence I believe as an artiste, it is extremely important to take the time and effort to mould each record on the album in the best way I possibly can," he said. "If I expect people to buy this, it's only fair that they receive their money's worth. I want when someone downloads or puts my album into their player, they can listen to the entire compilation from start to end without having to skip a song because it's perceived as a subpar effort."
There is no specific release date set yet for the album, but the deejay believes the album should be completed by the first quarter of 2018.
The compilation will be executively produced by his own 4th Genna Music imprint.
Internationally, Aidonia's summer anthem, Yeah Yeah, was recently added to the B-List of BBC 1Xtra's Playlist, where it now enjoys premium daytime rotation among a plethora of international A-listers.
The deejay is gearing up for a series of performances in The Bahamas later this month.
