Popcaan, Masicka lead on 'El Chapo' rhythm

October 04, 2017

The streets are talking about the new Notnice Records' production, 'El Chapo' rhythm, that is blowing up all over the Internet.

Dancehall artiste Masicka rains down terror with The Right Place, a clinical song that uses clever wordplay to narrate the macho street theatre that dominates newspaper articles and has left the island's morgues packed and overflowing.

This song celebrates marksmanship, the killing shot, the coup de gras, if you will, as evidenced by the line: "Mi nah gi dem no belly shot fi dat damage the lung/weh mi point it?/ A inna head a the right place and everybody know say the genna nuh like trace."

Masicka's song has racked up more than 500,000 views since its release.

Newcomer Jafrass also shows that he has the lyrical chops to hang with the heavyweights with War Mi Nuh,  a clash invitation issued to rival Alkaline. He deejays.

But it is Popcaan who has gotten the biggest reception, racking up more than one million views for El Chapo.

Wasp then shows up to ask Why Envy, showing his lyrical dexterity and his ability to play on words in a fun, PG-13 way. He speaks about the perennial problems of 'bad mind', envy and 'grudgeful' that often plagues relationships in the ghetto.

El Chapo is currently available for download on iTunes and other digital sales platforms.
