Jamaican comedian-turned-businessman Gabre Nelson is getting ready to tie the knot with his male lover later this month.

The entertainer, who got engaged at a live show in New York back in May last year, said that from the day he met his partner, he knew it was love and that this was the man he wanted to spend the rest of his life with.

Speaking with THE WEEKEND STAR, Nelson said that he has never lived his life caring about what people thought of him. He added that he couldn't be happier with his decision, and that he is looking forward to living his best 'gay' life.

The wedding is set for April 21 in Florida, and Nelson revealed that he and his partner are going all out for their special day.

He said that they wanted to have 150 guests, but number has doubled to 300 as everyone wants to witness the wedding of the year.

"It's a gold and white affair, and we're going to have a full bridal party. Everybody is expected to be in gold and white, and it will be a classy, sophisticated and special affair," said Nelson, who placed second in the Comedy Buss competition in 2007.

"Right now, we have about 300 guests. I've already paid for 150 plates, and we're putting the other plans in place. I have 12 rooms booked at a hotel to house people coming in from England, Canada, and Jamaica. It's going to be a day we remember for sure because we have no stress and we're so blessed."

Nelson describes himself as the 'man' in the relationship, and said that his partner is the absolute best. He explained that they met on an online dating site for gays and admitted to be smitten from their first official meeting.

"We met on a website and our personalities matched. I was 26 at the time and he was 18. He dropped everything to move in with me and my kids," he recalled.

"I said to myself, 'for someone to put their life on hold for an old man that was making minimum wage at the time and him just finish high school and him decide to be with me, take care of my kids, this was something I had to do'."

Nelson, who is a father of three, said that persons should not be concerned about his children or the home that they live in. Instead, he said they should mind their own businesses, as his children understand that it's just pure love between him and his partner.

He said that his children are in a happy, loving home, and that's all that matters at the end of the day.

"I'm their dad, he's their mom. My kids love him, and he takes really good care of them. It's just pure love," he said.

"All kids want is love, and our home is full of that. We never argue. If you love someone and care for them, love doesn't hurt."

As the man in the relationship, Nelson said that his partner will be taking his last name and that they will be honeymooning in Prague. Czech Republic.

He noted that he has no interest in coming back to Jamaica for an extended stay as he believes that at this stage in his life, Jamaica makes no sense for him.

Nelson said that he has been back to Jamaica twice since migrating, and has spent less than three days on both occasions. He believes that Jamaicans are still too stuck in their homophobic ways, and he is not keen on hiding his lifestyle.
