Powerful Men and Women charity show this Sunday
The date is set, the performers are in rehearsal and the planning is in earnest.
Come Sunday, June 10 the 18th staging of Powerful Women and Men Perform for Charity show will take place at the National Indoor Sports Centre beginning 6 p.m.
According to founder of the annual charity event, Thyra Heaven, last year's show was one of the most memorable in recent times for various reasons. The show returned to the National Indoor Sports Centre, with one of the largest crowds in recent years.
There was an increased number of the island's influencers at the highest levels of government, business, diplomatic corps and civil society on stage, while a number of new corporations came on board as sponsors.
"The June 10 show promises to be even more exciting than last year. Loyal and first time patrons can look forward to the inaugural appearances by many of Jamaica's influencers," said Cordel Green, chairman of the show's planning committee.
Among those persons who have confirmed that they will perform on the show are: Juliet Holness, wife of the prime minister and member of parliament for East Rural St Andrew; broadcaster Emily Crooks-Shields; Dr Michael Abrahams, obstetrician and gynaecologist; and Stephen Shaw, communications manager of the National Works Agency.
One special item will be the return of perennial performer Blossom O'Meally-Nelson, who will perform a comedic piece Since Mi Did Gawn.
Michael Holgate, co-founder of ASHE is this year's production director.
