Mega line-up for Magnum Xplosion
Since its entry into the local market in 1999, Magnum Tonic Wine has remained a staple on the dancehall scene and has consistently sought to impact the genre's development.
Through strong partnerships such as Magnum Kings and Queens of Dancehall and concert experiences such as Magnum Dream Live and Magnum Xplosion, the brand has remained committed to entertainment.
In the case of Magnum Xplosion, the brand has hosted concerts throughout the Caribbean region, with thousands in attendance to see elite Jamaican performers grace the stage.
"Magnum has always found it imperative to be activate with dancehall as both are bold, brazen and magnetic in essence, so naturally, the two bond well when executed together," said Telecia Lindo-Johnson, marketing manager at J. Wray & Nephew Limited.
Having already made stops in Guyana, Trinidad and Tobago, Barbados, the Bahamas and St Lucia, the 2018 season of Magnum Xplosion will close off on December 14 at Melbourne Cricket Club in Kingston. Set to be its largest staging yet, the show will feature Ding Dong, Aidonia, Govana, Spice, and Agent Sasco, among others.
"Regionally, we've brought in thousands of patrons to spaces in the Caribbean, furthering the genre's stronghold as a cultural mainstay, so we can't wait to make our mark at home in Jamaica this December," Lindo-Johnson said.
The concert will be preceded, however, by Magnum Star Live, a pop-up series that will be making stops in non-traditional stage-show locations across Jamaica.
The series kicks off on October 27 at the Cristal Nightclub in Port Antonio, Portland. The featured performer will be dominant dancehall artiste Tommy Lee Sparta. Ricky Trooper will be doing selecting duties.
"In leading up to our local staging of Magnum Xplosion, we see the Magnum Star Live series as a great platform to continue to show our commitment to dancehall talent and stakeholders while simultaneously exposing communities to quality nightlife entertainment," Lindo-Johnson said.
