Rihanna ponders title of reggae album
After almost a year of silence regarding her next album, Rihanna has finally given some hints on who may be featured on the highly anticipated project as well as a possible title.
In a recent interview with T Magazine, Rihanna said that she still has not decided on a release date, but says she is thinking of naming the compilation R9.
R9 is the name fans have been using for the project, since the Bajan singer announced she was working on her next studio album. Rihanna told T Magazine that since that name has already been impressed upon the masses by her fans, she is thinking of sticking to it as a title.
She also denied a few names swirling around as artistes to be featured on the album.
Drake and Lady Gaga were rumoured to have landed spots on the compilation, but she said neither will be included.
Rihanna's last album, ANTI, was released back in 2016.
In the interview with T Magazine, Rihanna revealed that she felt pressured to continue producing hits, as when she just started her musical journey, persons had labelled her a one-hit wonder.
"The one-hit-wonder comment came straight out of the gate and that put a fire under my ass, and I just never stopped working. Every time it was about challenging myself; I have to do better, I have to do better. And what's next, what's next," she said. "I won a Grammy and that was seconds into my past as soon as it got into my hands. I have to think about the next thing, which is terrible because people should live in the moment. I just started branching out into different creative outlets. That's what makes me happy."
Since ANTI, the singer has been focused on building her fashion empire, having released her Savage lingerie line, her Fenty Beauty make-up line and just recently, landed a partnership with LVMH luxury brand, making her the first black woman in charge of a major luxury fashion house in Paris.
In the interview, Rihanna said while she dreamt of a music career, she didn't envision one in fashion.
