Welcome back, my Real Talk peeps, to another exciting week. This week, our guest is one of the leading dancehall acts right now. She is also our STAR of the Month. If you thought about Spice, then you're right. I thoroughly enjoyed our little chat. Check out what she had to say about parenting and forgiveness.
Renee: What kind of mother are you?
Spice: I think I am a strict mother. I am lenient sometimes, but strict when it comes to the bookwork part of it. They have a routine to do their revision on Saturdays and Sundays evenings. They have a time to play, time to come in. If I come home and the work is not done, I'm going to get serious. But when it comes to spoiling them as well, I can't help but giving them what they want.
Renee: What is your most memorable mommy moment?
Spice: I have so much. The birth of my kids, of course, is extremely memorable for me. I will never forget that. The pain, tears - it's like a joyful pain. The happiness and everything when I saw them, I don't think I will ever forget that. There are other moments when they will say little things. We have this thing where if the child is brilliant, like if I give them a word and they spell it, I would say, 'yaay yuh get my brain'. One night, all four of us were in bed and my daughter got a spelling wrong and I said, 'you have you father brain, you don't have my brain.' She started crying and saying 'Mommy, I don't want my father brain, tek it out.' That night me laugh till me cry.
Renee: Lady Saw wrote and open letter asking for your forgiveness. Have you forgiven her?
Spice: The Lady Saw I know is a feisty woman. So I know that if she didn't mean it, she wouldn't come out and apologise. I have forgiven her and moved on. That is why I will always grow because I forgave her a long time ago. A lot of persons are saying she is not genuine with what she is doing and so on, but people can ease her up a bit with the bashing because, I know that if she wasn't genuine, she wouldn't come out and apologise. She would prefer to hiss her teeth and no give a hell so, I think it was basically real.
Renee: Will you be giving your life to the Lord soon?
Spice: I'm a God-fearing person. I grew up in the Church, like most Jamaicans. I believe in God. I live right, me no bad mind, obeah man no know me, heart clean, you name it. My fiancE can attest to that. I have a beautiful soul. The only thing I'm doing right now is probably fornicating (laughs). But I don't think I'm ready.
This is where I leave you for this week. See you next week when I wrap up my interview with Spice. Until then, keep it real!
