Dakta prepares reggae set for Redemption Live
For this edition of In the Studio, THE STAR went behind the scenes with STAR of the Month, Devin Di Dakta, as he went through his final round of rehearsals for his appearance at tomorrow's Redemption Live concert in Half Way Tree.
When THE STAR arrived at the SR Music and Entertainment Factory at 11 1/2 Ardenne Road, St Andrew, Devin Di Dakta was already on the scene, waiting on his time rehearse with Ruff Kut band. While he waited for his turn, the young deejay found time to do a Valentine's Day promo with THE STAR. He managed to finish filming just in time to hear his name being called, signalling the beginning of his session.
The entertainer entered the studio with such an enthusiasm that his energy seemed to lift the spirits of the band members. He grabbed a mic and got right into the mix of things. Relating to the few persons inside the studio as audience he expects for the Half Way Tree concert, Devin Di Dakta was immediately in full flight.
Devin's maturity spoke volumes as he instructed members of the experienced Ruff Kut band on how he wanted his songs to sound. He expertly gave directions for the band members to change the tempo here and speed up the beat there.
If the rehearsals are anything to go by, persons who either turn up at Half-Way Tree for Redemption Live or watch the streams online are in for a treat.
Jamaicans are used to Devin Di Dakta perform his dancehall songs but on Sunday they will see the entertainer perform reggae music.
