STAR of the Month : Ding Dong gears up for busy summer
STAR of the Month Ding Dong says that he is preparing for a busy summer season.
The entertainer told THE STAR that he already has some of the hottest dances and dance tracks in dancehall right now and plans to continue blazing a trail during the summer.
With a new dance called 'Lebeh Lebeh' now gaining traction on the streets, Ding Dong says that he believes that the summer will be his for the taking.
"'Gas' a do well, plus 'Fling Yuh Shoulder' created by Kool Ravers. 'Fling Yuh' shoulder a one of the hottest dances right now. Ask anybody. It a get crazy forward in the streets," he said. "We just voice a brand new summer song with a new artiste name Nazine, so look out fi it and da yute deh. Me have a song called My Grung weh hot hot, too. Another one name Stop Wild Up Yuhself wid I-Octane weh a gwaan good, too. So a just pure niceness and vibes fi di summer."
The dancer-turned-artiste revealed that every year, he tries to come up with a hit for the summer, hoping to follow up on the success of his megahit, Holiday, which was released in the summer of 2009.
"Holiday was a big song. It was a feel-good song that came and caused a shift in the dancehall. It brought back dancing, and people did just feel nice again," he said. "That is the vibe I hope to bring every summer. I'm a dancer. That's my first passion. So I want to put dancing at the forefront at all times, especially with my music."
He said that the Ravers Clavers team was doing much travelling, taking dancing and Jamaican culture to the world.
He explained that in the near future, he wants to diversify his music portfolio.
"Dancing will always be my focus. We have the hottest dancing songs right now, but I don't want it to stop there," he said. "I want to do some different types of songs influenced by dancing - every genre, different style, different flavour - because we always looking to grow."
