Facebook french flag angers social media users
Following the deadly terrorist attacks on Paris last Friday, Facebook created a temporary overlay of the country's flag.
Over the weekend many persons around the world changed their profile pictures to pay homage to the French people while injecting in the caption, "#PrayForParis".
However, this did not go down well with some Jamaican who believed that Jamaica has its own problems which are being overlooked.
"Please pray for Jamaica , a country that you're actually suffering in,while we praying for France. Every time yuh bruk & hungry put up yuh J'can flag & trend #JusticeForJamaica . While the attack was undeniably unfortunate. What are we doing in our own country? Think on that," one Facebook user wrote.
"How many of us put up the Jamaican flag after the Tivoli incursion? How far away is France again? Just saying," another asked.
But while a number of Jamaicans were busy fussing about the gesture, some users sought to explain why there is absolutely nothing wrong with it.
"We cannot selfishly isolate & divide ourselves to our own domestic affairs, the carnage will only spread at the behest of these terrorists, it's on that note that I stand with France & the rest of the world against: BokoHaram, The Taliban, Al Qaeda, ISIS etc (The face of terrorism). #UnitedWeStandDividedWeFall."
Do you think Jamaicans were being selfish?
