UK MP comes out as gay
A UK politician has come out as gay describing his decision as the "only way to be happy."
The 53-year-old MP, David Mundell is the Secretary of State for Scotland and is a member of the Conservative Party, the majority party in the British parliament.
The BBC reports that head of the Conservative Party Prime Minister David Cameron, has commended his colleague and has stated that he is "very pleased" with the announcement.
Mundell who took to his personal website to make the announcement stated that the time has come to "acknowledge in public as well as in private, who I am"
Mundell also said the decision was "harder than standing for election, speaking in the House of Commons or being cross-examined on television."
The BBC says Mundell's confession brings the number of openly-gay MPs in the British parliament to 33 - the highest proportion of any parliament in the world.
