Rape, robbery suspect charged
The St Catherine South police have made a breakthrough in a series of rapes and robberies in the division after a man was arrested and charged.
He is Rohan Carr, 18 years old, unemployed, of Shelter Rock in Spanish Town, St Catherine. Carr has been charged with robbery, rape, abduction, and illegal possession of firearm.
The police believe that Carr was one of three men who held up and robbed a taxi driver on January 2, 2016.
The men, it was reported, took the cabbie's vehicle, at gunpoint, to Church Pen in Old Harbour in the parish, where they held up a business place and abducted a female employee. The employee was taken to an area in Spanish Town, where she was raped.
The police say the hoodlums then went to Walks Road, also in St Catherine, where they held and raped another woman. The police say that the men left the naked females near Dam Head in the parish.
They then drove to Gregory Park in Portmore, where they reportedly held up a third woman. She was reportedly robbed and thrown from the moving vehicle.
Following a report to the Portmore police, an intensive investigation was conducted, which resulted in Carr being arrested and later charged. He is booked to appear in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court on January 26.
