Alleged gang member remanded
A St Catherine man charged with being a member of a criminal gang was
granted bail in the sum of $500,000 when he appeared in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.
He is Jermaine Daley, 28, from March Pen Road.
When the case was mentioned, Daley's attorney, Earl Hamilton, successfully applied for bail.
He told the court that the police failed to have a file with sufficient information to show his client as a gang member.
The court was told that there is an inadequate statement on file, despite previous instructions by the judge for further details. Resident Magistrate Natalee Brooks then granted bail on condition that Daley report daily to the police, surrender his travel documents, and be home from 6 p.m to 6 a.m. daily.
The police alleged that investigation revealed that Daley was an influential member of a gang in Spanish Town. It was revealed that his criminal involvement
resulted in him being charged under the Anti-Gang Legislation.
Daley made several court appearances since December last year and has maintained his innocence.
