Man remanded for former mayor's shooting
Sheldon Young, one of the men charged with the gun attack on former Spanish Town mayor, Dr Raymoth Notice, was remanded yesterday, and is scheduled to appear in the Gun Court on January 26.
The other accused, Oral Fraser, was not brought to court, as it is said that he is on other charges and was also scheduled for an identification parade.
When the matter was mentioned in the Linstead Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday, bail was denied for Young.
The matter was subsequently transferred to the higher court in the Corporate Area.
Allegations are that on December 21, Notice was attacked and shot while he washed his vehicle at home in West Prospect in Bog Walk, St Catherine.
An investigation was launched which resulted in Young and Fraser being charged with robbery with aggravation, shooting with intent, and illegal possession of firearm..
