Cuban nationals rescued off Negril coast

The marine police have confirmed that seventeen Cuban nationals were rescued approximately 230 miles west of Negril Point, Westmoreland, last Friday.

The Cuban nationals, comprising of five females and 12 males, arrived at about 12:45 a.m., and were visited by the members of the Passport, Immigration and Citizenship Agency, Quarantine Authority at the Ministry of Health, as well as members of the Jamaica Constabulary Force Marine Division. The Cuban consulate and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs were also informed.

They are currently being housed at a Red Cross location in St Catherine.
