A St Catherine man who reportedly plastered himself with faeces after he was caught stealing oranges was remanded to seek medical attention in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court.
He is 56-year-old labourer Eric Rose, otherwise call 'Stitchie', from Bog Walk.
Allegations are that on December 30, 2015, Rose was accosted by security personnel who saw him stealing oranges from Trade Winds Citrus in St Catherine.
When he was accosted, Rose reportedly plastered himself with faeces to prevent the guards from apprehending him. He then ran away and escaped in the area. The accused was not seen again until January 6, 2016, when he was spotted by one of the guards. Rose was held by the police and subsequently charged with praedial larceny.
When Rose appeared before Resident Magistrate (RM) Natalee Brooks last Wednesday, he pleaded guilty with explanation. He told the court that he was just getting the oranges to feed goats.
After enquiring if he was alright, the RM remanded Rose for medical observation.
He is to return to court on April 17.
