Four killed in Spanish Town Road accident

February 09, 2016

Up to press time the police could not ascertain the identity of the four persons who died in a vehicular accident along Spanish Town Road in Kingston yesterday.

The two males and a female were travelling in a blue Toyota Wish motorcar heading towards the direction of Spanish Town at about 3:25 p.m. in the vicinity of Tank Well Metals when the Wish was hit by a Suzuki Swift motorcar that was speeding in the opposite direction. The driver of the Swift reportedly lost control his vehicle after he overtook a line of traffic.

The impact resulted in the Wish cascading across the road and later slamming into a concrete wall about 50 metres on the other side of the road.

The accident resulted in the death of the two males, whose bodies were trapped inside the Wish. The female occupant in the Wish, as well as the driver of the Swift, were rushed to hospital where they succumbed to injuries received.

The police, led by Deputy Commissioner of Police, Donald Qualo, were busy processing the scene.

"I cannot say if they are police personnel although I am hearing stories. I have not received information where they work, therefore I cannot confirm at this time," DCP Qualo said.

An investigation has been launched into the incident.
