Foreign nationals arrested at Kingston airport
Forty-two-year-old Garnett Ricketts of Brampton, Ontario, Canada, was arrested at the Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston on Tuesday for breaches of the Dangerous Drugs Act.
Reports from the Corporate Communi-cations Unit are that Ricketts was about to depart the island for Barbados when his luggage was searched and ganja, weighing approximately two pounds, was found.
He was later charged for taking steps to export and dealing in ganja.
Ricketts is to appear in the Half-Way Tree Resident Magistrate's Court on Tuesday, February 16.
Meanwhile, another foreign national was arrested recently for forgery, uttering forged documents, and conspiracy to deceive on Monday.
The Cuban national has been identified as 29-year-old Yamile Alvarez Hernandez, accountant of Sancti Spiritus, Cuba.
Reports are that about 5:30 a.m., Hernandez attempted to depart the island for New York using a forged Jamaican passport that was reported lost. Hernandez was later charged.
She will appear in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court tomorrow.
