Gunman shoots, injures cop

A police sergeant was shot and injured during an attack at his home in Old Harbour, St Catherine, on Tuesday night.

He remains in serious condition at hospital.

Checks made by THE STAR revealed that the sergeant was attacked sometime after 7 p.m. THE STAR was also informed that an intensive investigation has being launched into the matter.

It is understood that the policeman, whose name is being withheld, was on leave when he was shot. He was shot in his abdomen.

The sub-officer is said to be attached to the Police Traffic Division and works with the Highway Patrol.

When THE STAR contacted the Old Harbour Police Station, the incident was confirmed by Inspector Yvonne Christie-Fraser.
