Man fined for stealing goat
A man who tried to steal a goat was unable to pay the fine stipulated by the court when he appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate Court on Tuesday.
Errol Stephenson, who pleaded guilty to one count of praedial larceny, told the court that he was unable to pay the $20,000 which he was fined in his previous appearance.
"I only have $8,000 because me work, but no receive the pay yet," explained Stephenson.
Reports are that, in May 2015, the female complainant was alerted that the accused was stealing her daughter's goat.
According to the police, a witness reportedly saw him stealing the goat and called out, "thief thief".
The complainant who was alerted, reported to the police, who arrested and charged him shortly after.
Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey, who was clearly not amused with the accused's inability to pay his fine, told him to return to court on March 3 with the rest of the money.
