Two dead in three-vehicle collision
Two persons were killed in a three-vehicle collision on the Rio Bueno main road, Trelawny, on Wednesday.
Dead are 42-year-old Neville Malcolm of Malcolm Heights in Lucea, Hanover, and a woman identified as Leonie Rose.
Reports from the Rio Bueno police are that, about 4:45 a.m., the driver of a Leyland motor truck was heading towards Montego Bay, St James, when the motor vehicle developed difficulties and caught fire.
The Falmouth Fire Department responded and was extinguishing the blaze when a Ford Fiesta crashed into the disabled truck.
An Isuzu motor truck travelling in the same direction crashed into the Ford Fiesta and the Leyland motor truck.
Malcolm, the driver of the Ford Fiesta motor car, died on the spot. Rose, a passenger in the Leyland motor truck, sustained injuries and was transported to hospital, where she later died.
The fire fighters and the drivers of the Isuzu and Leyland motor trucks were transported to hospital for treatment.
The scene was processed by the Accident Investigation and Reconstruction Unit.
Investigations are ongoing.
