Residents claim ...

firebombed over interview

Residents of Cascade in St Mary are claiming that an interview done by a resident from the area may have triggered the action of arsonists who set fire to his home in the community.

On Thursday when THE STAR roved through the western St Mary community, our news team saw the remains of the burned out wooden structure.

The owner was not present, however, several residents told THE STAR that smoke was seen coming from the building about 3 a.m. on Wednesday.

THE STAR was also told that the owner, Alrick Spence, sometime ago, allegedly made certain utterances on a popular media programme and that might have been the reason for the inferno.

"Yeah man. Him go pan a interview programme and say supm and a that's why dem come bun it dung. The media company must have the footage same way," said an elder from the community.

When THE STAR contacted the Retreat police, our news team was told that a report had been made and investigations are ongoing.
