Andrew Holness sworn in as Jamaica's Prime Minister

March 03, 2016

Andrew Holness was officially sworn in as Jamaica's Prime Minister on Thursday afternoon in Kingston.

Holness 43, who was Jamaica's Prime Minister for a short while in 2011, has created history by being the youngest person to be sworn in twice as Prime Minister.

Some seven thousand people attended the swearing-in ceremony including Portia Simpson Miller who will now be Jamaica's Opposition Leader in Gordon House.

Dancehall star Nesbeth was well received by the audience at King's House as he delivered a spirited performance of  his new hit single My Dream.

Holness also joined Nesbeth on stage and helped deliver a few lines of My Dream which enjoyed heavy rotations at JLP rallies leading up to recent elections.

Holness' appointment as Prime Minister sees the JLP forming Jamaica's government for the fifth time since 1962.
