Detectives attached to the Spanish Town police arrested four men for breaches of the Larceny Act on Green Acres main road in Spanish Town, St Catherine, on Sunday.

Reports are that about 4:30 a.m., while the lawmen were on an operation, checks were made at a telecommunications company's site on Century Road in the area, where four men were seen removing fibre optic cables. Upon seeing the police, they ran and tried to evade the cops in a motor car.

The police followed them and the vehicle was intercepted on the Green Acres main road, where it was searched and found to contain large quantities of fibre optic cables. The men were subsequently arrested.

Their identities are being withheld pending further investigations.
