Butler family to receive help from Ministry of Education

The Ministry of Education, Youth and Information is pledging to assist a family who made an impassioned plea for help to  bury their eight year old daughter.

The Butler family who came to public eye after telling their story to The STAR seeking assistance to bury Kemeisha Butler who was a student of Port Henderson Primary School at the time of her death.

According to a release from the Education Ministry, they will be assisting the family with costs associated with the funeral for their deceased daughter.

An investigation has also been  launched into the circumstances surrounding the death of the child to determine whether or not her illness and subsequent death was attributable to curricular activities.

Officials from the Ministry’s Region Six office will convey this decision to the family of the deceased today .

A police group and other ordinary Jamaican citizens have also answered the call to help the family who is in dire need of assistance to bury their eight-year-old daughter.

Kemeisha Butler died at the Bustamante Hospital for Children on March 8. The cause of her death has not been established.
