Residents fear reprisal after daylight murder

Residents of Long Wall, Stony Hill, St Andrew, say they fear reprisal following the death of a man from the community in broad daylight Saturday.

Information reaching THE STAR is that 32-year-old Gavin Byfield o/c 'tugs' or 'sting ray', was gunned down approximately 10:50 a.m. by an unknown man.

"Dem man deh known all bout enuh so mi nuh think it ago go suh. Right now we just a look out a we eye and listen out cause, the place tense a way," a resident told THE STAR.

Reports from the police are that Byfield was sitting outside a shop at Long Wall, when a mini bus drove up. THE STAR gathered that a man got out the bus, pulled a gun and shot Byfield.

He attempted to escape however he was chased and shot again. Byfield reportedly collapsed and died on the spot.

The Stony Hill police have not established a motive for the killing, however investigations are ongoing.
