Early morning fire at hospital

May 02, 2016

Fire fighters from Morant Bay, St Thomas are currently conducting investigations into the cause of a fire that destroyed a section of the Princess Margaret Hospital in the parish this morning.

Details are limited at this time, however, a fire fighter attached to the Morant Bay fire unit told THE STAR that the incident occurred at about 1:26 a.m in a room being occupied by a senior doctor.

There has been no report of injury thus far, the fire fighter said.

He added that initial investigations suggest that an overloaded socket in the room caused the fire, however investigations are ongoing.
