Three firearms seized in separate incidents
Three firearms were seized by the police yesterday in three separate incidents.
In the first incident, between 3 and 4:30 p.m., special operations were carried out in Shelter Rock, Spanish Town, St Catherine by members of the Spanish Town police. During the operation one Beretta .45 pistol and three .45 rounds were seized. No arrests were made in relation to this find.
Hours later, about 6 p.m., lawmen in St James seized a Glock 17 pistol in Dallas, Glendevon. One man was accosted, searched and the weapon found in his possession. He is Desroy Smith, 35, from Johnson Hill in the parish. He was charged with illegal possession of firearm and ammunition.
Then, just before midnight, the Seaview Gardens police in St Andrew, were on foot patrol in an area of the community known as Falcon, when they observed a group of men standing on the roadway. One of the men was accosted, and he was reportedly observed discarding an object behind a wall. When it was retrieved, it was found to be a 9mm Browning pistol with eleven 9mm rounds. The man was arrested, however his identity is being withheld.
